Who we are

Rare Roots was started with a simple idea: grow food the way it used to be grown — for flavour, nourishment, and integrity.

We specialise in heirloom vegetables, choosing varieties that were bred long before modern industrial farming. These are crops selected for taste, resilience, and nutrient density, not shelf life or uniformity. They may look a little different from supermarket produce, but what they lack in polish they more than make up for in flavour and goodness.

Everything we grow is organic, working with the soil rather than against it. No shortcuts, no sprays — just careful growing, healthy soil, and respect for the seasons. We believe that good food starts underground, and that nutrient-rich vegetables come from living, well-cared-for soil.

Our produce is sold as weekly veg boxes, available in three sizes to suit different households. Each box reflects what’s growing well that week — seasonal, fresh, and harvested as close to delivery as possible. It’s real food, grown locally, without unnecessary miles or middlemen.

We deliver once a week on Wednesdays, covering a 15-mile radius of Peterborough, bringing fresh, flavour-packed vegetables straight from the field to your door.

Rare Roots is about reconnecting people with food that has a story — vegetables with history, character, and real nutritional value. Food that tastes the way it should, because it’s grown the way it should.
